On December 14, 2018, we received a follow-up e-mail from\nthe Commercial Director of a major Importer and Exporter of flowers in Holland.\nHe was finalizing his company\u2019s exhibition at January\u2019s IPM ESSEN 2019: The\nWorld\u2019s Leading Fair for Horticuture. We were completing design ideas and\nfloral needs for the entryway to their space that we would be creating. In this e-mail, he asked what we thought of\ncreating the installation using (at that\ntime)<\/em> the 8-day old, hot-off-the-press release of Pantone\u2019s 2019 Color of\nthe Year:\nPANTONE<\/strong>\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> 16-1546 Living Coral.<\/strong> He immediately followed that thought with, \u201cno idea\nif we can find a good assortment\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A leading Dutch Flower\nsupplier for the world was not certain that there would be the volume of\ncoral-colored flowers to create the design that he wanted. A new trend color\ncoming into the market is sometimes a challenge. Flower farms throughout the\nworld will not have enough time to plan, obtain the seed crop, plant, grow and\nharvest enough coral-colored flowers before 2018 is over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So where does Living Coral\ncome from? \u201cTo\narrive at the selection each year, Pantone\u2019s color experts at the Pantone Color\nInstitute comb the world looking for new color influences. Pantone\ndid not spend a year and more in research to tell the floral industry what\ncolor flowers we should be using. Flowers are our focus, they are how we move\nthrough the business of life. What can we do about it? LIVING CORAL<\/strong> does\nnot need to be the featured color in our designs to take advantage of the\nworldwide marketing awareness of the 2019 Color of the Year. As an accent or in\ncombination with other \u2018happy\u2019 colors, Living Coral can be added and marketed\nto show your trend worthiness for your customers in-the-know. Coral-colored\nContainers, Linens, Ribbons, Picks, Wraps, Yarns and Wool all offer floral\ndesigners a way to use this top new trend color in their everyday creative\nactivities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n An example of how to use\ncoral this year is shown in our curated Florists\u2019 Review\u2019s 2019 Christmas\nTrends<\/strong> (December 2018)<\/em>. Coral is\nused as a focal and as an accent in both trend forecasts CABANA CHILL<\/strong> (Design Master Coral)<\/em> and CRANBERRY\nBLISS<\/strong> (Design Master Coral Bright)<\/em>.\nA quick internet search of Pantone\u2019s color palette for Spring- Summer 2019\nreveals Living Coral<\/em> along with Fiesta<\/em> (a festive orange red), Turmeric<\/em> (an enlivening orange), Mango Mojito<\/em> (the golden yellow) and\neven more bright, happy colors. Orange is exciting. Peachy-orange is often\ndescribed as coral; and this is perfect for wedding season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The all-white wedding that was then infused for so long with blush tones, and then even more pinks; added peach into its collection over the past few years. Living Coral offers the creative floral wedding salesperson an opportunity to suggest enriching their event with coral and dare we say: orange.
